If you find it difficult to put your transmission in gear when the engine is running or find that when you are driving or trying to accelerate the engine revs but you don’t seem to be going any faster . The engine is connected to the transmission in a manual shift car or truck by a clutch . If you have what you think are clutch problems there may be simpler solutions so have a qualified technician look at your system and see just what can be done to extend your clutches life or find out what’s really wrong and not have to do clutch after all . The clutch system consists often with hydraulics like a clutch master and pushrod and a line and slave cylinder or a pedal and cable system . The older ones had rods and pivot shafts and levers . All of these systems can deteriorate and require adjustment or even the self adjusting ones can be over adjusted and need to be reset . The facts are that not always does a clutch instantly require replacement. When you have completely determined that the clutch does require replacement like the one in this photo

You can often just replace the disc if you are trying to save money . The risks of this lower cost option are that the flywheel surface that should be machined will not done cause a shudder when engaging clutch and trying to move but also the pressure plate when not replaced may cause a weaker pedal and even more chattering . The throw out bearing should also be replaced due to how many times that small device has spun around in there and how much load it bears when depressing pedal but it too could live to work another day and again be re used.
So there you go . I have just simply shown you how to get a low cost clutch job on your vehicle .
